An actual office day? I only had 1 appointment scheduled for after school and a few meetings, so I was thrilled to be able to finally get some work done. Guess what? It was boring! Well, the first few hours were good, but by 12:00 I was itching for something different.
I often complain that my days are too busy - I hate getting in and out of a steaming hot car rushing to appointments drenched in sweat, but today I realized that's really what I love about this job. Every appointment, every chance to work with teachers, every chance to see students get the opportunity to use technology is what really fills me up.

I was especially excited to have the chance to work with a veteran teacher today who truly exemplifies the gift of failure. Though 30+ years into her teaching career, she had the energy of a teenager when shown the possibilities for tech integration in her first grade class. She is not afraid to fail. In fact, she models it. She created beautiful, laminated information cards for her students will their username, passwords and other logon information . She was ready. She was prepared. She was excited. Only, she mistyped the usernames. We've all been there. I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been with a group of first graders who were excited and impatient to try out their new Chromebooks. In that moment, she could have decided that Chromebooks with first graders is just too big of a hurdle to tackle. Instead of throwing in the towel, she persevered and modeled for the students how she was going to fix the problem. What an incredible lesson for children already afraid to make mistakes. If our very expert veteran teachers are willing to take risks to provide technology opportunities to students, shouldn't we follow their lead?
After meeting with this extraordinary teacher, I was energized by the possibilities for what could happen in her class this year. I am grateful that she has invited me along for the ride. With two teachers not afraid to make mistakes - these kiddos aren't going to know what hit them.
So, although I got some work done working with teachers is really what inspires me and keeps me motivated. Time to fill up that appointment calendar and worry less about getting my paperwork finished.
